Just back home, I want to tell you all went perfectly well. We still don't know which of your two hotels in Beijing and Suzhou we liked most.
Both were perfect and we have been extremely well received and lodged.
Will definitely recommend them to friends planning to travel to China, all the more so that your Suzhou hotel is not yet mentioned in the travel guides, but I will mention it to the Routard and Lonely Planet people so they include it in their next issues.
Thanks also Helen for the train reservation, all went smoothly for us with the Beijing-Shanghai trip.

All in all we loved China and are surely going to return and visit other regions in the coming years.
Will of course be in touch with you when that happens.

Please tell the staff how much we enjoyed our stay at your excellent hotel. Everyone went out of their way to help us. When we needed directions or information, they called various places to find what we wanted or wrote out street directions for taxi drivers. When we didn't like our room, they changed us to another room and made arrangements so the switch would not interrupt our day. They were always helpful and friendly, and their command of English was excellent. (Sadly, we don't know Chinese).

Thank you for your note following up.  My husband Chris and I had an AMAZING stay at the hotel!  The staff was absolutely wonderful as was the food and restaurant.  Whenever we return to Beijing we will definitely stay at the Lu Song Yuan again.  It is quite a gem!   I think the only issue we had was the beds were somewhat uncomfortable but again overall an EXCELLENT experience and I look forward to staying there again in the future.   

We had a marvelous time at your Lu Song Yuan Hotel! The staff was very nice and efficient! The hotel enriched our visit to Beijing so much that it made the journey one of the best we have made!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Beijing Lu Song Hotel although there was construction work going on.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant delicious.
Only the breakfast + breakfast service need improvement.  The location is also very well.
If we return to Beijing one day, we would like to stay again at the Beijing Lu Song Hotel

Just the hotel itself is so nice and the people working there are so very friendly, all this made my stay in Beijing an unbelievable great experience. And for sure I will recommend the hotel to everyone I know who will stay in Beijing. It was the best one I got to know on my tour through China!

I like very much this hotel: well located, nice place and nice people.  One think is the size of the rooms: the Standard size is small for 2 people and you should recommend booking the larger one for 2.

We had a lovely stay in the Beijing Lu Song Yuan Hotel Hotel.  It is in an ideal location.  The restaurant was great and the rooms were more than adequate.  Although the hotel is not specifically designed for families i.e. having no adjoining rooms my three children (aged 7, 9 and 11), husband and I found it more than suitable and would not hesitate to stay there again.  We enjoyed the courtyards and my children enjoyed playing in the local Exercise playground at the end of the road.

Although the staff at reception were very helpful in writing our destinations for us in Chinese characters to give to the taxi drivers, it would be a useful benefit for guests if available at the reception there were business card sized names of typical tourist attractions listing on individual cards the Western name, the locally known name and the name written in Chinese characters also information such as the address and opening hours.

1: Our ride from the airport was fast, efficient and well worth the money. The driver was courteous and safe.

2: Check-in was prompt and expedient.

3: My double room was too small for two people. Nowhere to store our clothes or leave our suitcases. We had to upgrade to a larger room at an extra expense.

4: Breakfast buffet was sufficient but hot items were not kept warm by separate burners. We had to ask the staff to light burners under the food trays to keep it warm.

5: Hot water was an issue. Sometimes the bath water had to be left running for quite a while before any hot water would arrive. The excuse was the distance from the boiler to the room... or repairs to the boiler.

6: Desk staff was very helpful in directions, especially writing destinations out in Chinese to show to cab drivers.

7: Internet access was fast, readily available and most affordable.

8: Our bill was presented quickly and accurately.

9: The transfer to the airport was the same as our arrival. Fast, courteous and safe.

10: Location was outstanding. Walking the hutongs really made us feel a part of the Chinese culture. We felt safe and welcomed.

 On a scale of 1-10 I would rate a 7 and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to another traveler.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lu Song Yuan Hotel. Our rooms were a little small so we had to upgrade. Not a problem. The staff was very helpful. The transfer to and from the airport was very welcome. The location of the hotel in the hutong was excellent. We ate from street vendors. We just saw where everybody else was eating and followed the crowd. I would certainly recommend the hotel.

Beijing Lu Song Yuan Hotel is really the best hotel I've stayed in China, and not only for its architecture, but specially because its staff service and attention.
