Dining
- Lounge
Cafe
Different local drinks and Buddhist cakes are served to
make you feel the distinctive flavours of Tibetan. Western
coffee and tea with milk are also served here at the Lounge
Cafe.
- Tibetan
Restaurant
Located on the ground floor, it serves you the finest flavours
of Tibetan cuisine such as sausages, barley wine, butter
oil tea, beef and mutton eaten with the hands, yak tongue,
steamed buns, zanba made from highland barley, pastries,
sweet tea, xiapuqing, and minced mutton and beef. The staple
Tibetan food includes roasted highland barley flour, wheat
flour, meat, or red food, and milk, or white food. The principle
in summer is the white food, while that in winter is the
red food. Local flavours in the pastoral areas are mutton
sausage, and dried beef. The flavour of the Tibetan food
is fresh, light, and tender. Salt, onion, and garlic are
the main ingredients.
- Muslim
Restaurant
Located on the ground floor featuring superb flavours of
Islamic cuisine such as Roast Meat, fish & Chicken, and
Stewed Mutton Cubes. Roast mutton is as famous as roast
duck in Beijing and crispy suckling pig in Guangzhou. A
two-year-old sheep is slaughtered and skinned, daubed with
salt inside and outside, and then coated with a mixture
of eggs, chopped ginger and scallions, and pepper. The sheep
is put into a stove to roast for about an hour until it
turns golden brown. Stewed Mutton Cubes prepared especially
for festivals. Cut mutton into cubes of 500 grams apiece
and boil them in a big pot. When they are half done, remove
the foam; and when they are 80 percent done, add onions,
pepper, ginger slices, carrots, turnips and tomatoes. Then
remove and place on a big plate. Put some salt in the stock
and remove to a bowl. Before eating the mutton, dip it in
the stock.
- Chinese
(Han) Restaurant
Enjoy one of the finest restaurants in Xining, the Chinese
(Han) Restaurant, which serves the best of traditional Chinese
cuisine. Its Cantonese dishes have long been famed for bringing
a touch of southern culture to the wild Northwest.
Spiritual
Pleasure
- Meditation
Room
It provides a place for you to have a simple and direct
practice-the moment-to-moment observation of the mind/body
process through calm and focused awareness. Learning to
observe experiences from a place of stillness enables one
to relate to life with less fear and clinging. Seeing life
as a constantly changing process, one begins to accept pleasure
and pain, fear and joy, and all aspects of life with increasing
equanimity and balance. As insight deepens, wisdom and compassion
arise. Insight meditation is a way of seeing clearly the
totality of one's being and experience. Growth in clarity
brings about penetrating insight into the true nature of
our experience and increases peace in our daily lives.
-
Praying Chamber
A tranquil place for you to explore the Yellow Sect of Lamaism
which was founded by Tsongkhapa. There are collections of
Buddhist scriptures for you to have an insight into the
historic religion.
- Study
Room
It is not only a venue for you to meet people from different
cultures, but also an ideal place for you to learn about
the history and culture of Qinghai.
