Explore Central Asia Immerse into the Mystery Lands of Kazakhstan

29 July 2016, Hong Kong - Kazakhstan is located between two different regions of Eurasia – Central Asia and Siberia.  This mysterious country has a long and fascinating history; from steppe nomads to Turkic Khanate, and the emerging powers from outside such as Khitan and Tatars, and later the empire of Genghis Khan and the formation of Kazakh Khanate, etc., all led to the present-day Kazakhstan.

With its advantageous location, Kazakhstan was once an important gateway along the ancient Silk Road and it played an irreplaceable role in fostering cultural exchange between the East and the West.  After the declaration of independence in 1991, Kazakhstan started to face the world with its unique history and cultural background, which blend with modern infrastructure and add charm to the country.  Following “The Belt and Road” initiative launched by President Xi of China, Kazakhstan is becoming one of the popular tourist destinations.  With well-developed air transportation, travelling to the mysterious Kazakhstan is much more convenient nowadays.  In Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the landmark Baiterek Tower (also known as the “Tree of Life”) greets every visitor.  Another remarkable architecture is the Khan Shatyr Shopping and Entertainment Center.  Designed by the famous British Architect, Lord Norman Foster, Khan Shatyr is the biggest tent in the world and also the biggest shopping center in Kazakhstan.  In Almaty, the biggest city in Kazakhstan, the must-sees include the National Museum of Kazakh Musical Instruments, Issyk Lake, Zenkov Cathedral and Green Bazaar.  Besides, don’t miss the Golden Eagle Show which gives you an insight into the traditional Kazakh hunting weapon.  As Astana will be the host city of the World Expo 2017, it is believed that Kazakhstan will catch the world spotlight soon!

Travel note: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) passport holders can enjoy visa-free for a stay of up to 14 days when visiting the Republic of Kazakhstan.  Non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Almaty is available every week.
