“Beautiful China 2015 – Year of Silk Road Tourism”

[2015-03-03] To further enhance the development of tourism industry, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) has planned to establish the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21th Century Maritime Silk Road”. At the China International Travel Mart 2014, CNTA announced the national tourism theme for year 2015 as “Beautiful China – Year of Silk Road Tourism”. As a highlight this year, CNTA aims to show to the world the charm and the potential development of the Silk Road in China through the promotion of this ancient trade route, once a cultural exchange gateway between China and the West.

With “Explore beautiful China along the Silk Road” as the theme of China International Travel Mart 2014, CNTA organized a travel product seminar to introduce to overseas visitors the diverse culture of the Silk Road, a blend of old and new. The seminar showcased the all-rounded travel resources and products, the magnificent landscape and unique culture of the Silk Road based on three dimensions: a Road with Historical Charm, A Young and Energetic Road, and a Road to the Potential Future.

The State Council confirmed last year that the government would promote tourism cooperation with other countries and regions such as Southeast Asia, South Asia and Central Asia this year. Hence, the government will develop a new Silk Road economic belt, undertaking the mission of enhancing the exchange of East-West civilizations again. The new economic belt is believed to foster the development and prosperity of the neighbouring regions.
