Reservation and Payment

  1. Please contact your travel agent or Silk Road Travel Management Ltd. to make your reservation.
  2. A non-refundable deposit of HK$3,000 or US$385 per person is required to secure the booking.
  3. Balance of payment has to be made 30 days prior to tour departure.
  4. Payment can be made through your travel agent, or by bank draft payable to SILK ROAD TRAVEL MANAGEMENT LTD.

China Visa

Every visitor must possess a valid China visa. Please arrange your own China visa through the local Chinese Embassy.

Please note

  1. It is advisable that overseas participants be in Hong Kong at least one full working day prior to departure to China.
  2. Please inform your travel agent or Silk Road Travel Management Ltd. the name of the hotel where you will be staying in Hong Kong so to establish contacts concerning the tour.
  3. Child under 12 paying 85% of the full fare is entitled to an extra bed in parents' room but not half-twin room.
  4. A single passenger must be prepared to pay for single supplement if a roommate is not available. Please note however that single room is not available on the train.
  5. Triple room will be on request basis subject to availability, with tour cost being the same as that of sharing twin.
  6. If direct flights are not available, the tour will be arranged by train via Guangzhou connecting with a domestic flight.
  7. Although this pamphlet gives an indication of forms of transportation, hotels, places to be visited, duration of stay at each city and sights to be seen, they are subject to changes with or without prior notice.
  8. No refund will be made for any unused portion of the tour
  9. We strongly recommend that you take out an insurance coverage for the loss of deposit, baggage, personal accident or illness.
  10. All fares quoted are based on the rate of exchange of the Chinese Yuan against the Hong Kong dollar or the US Dollar as of February 2002 and airfares of the same date. Should there be any fluctuation in the currencies or airfares or any significant increase in the cost as a result of actions by the Government or the official Government bodies over which we have no control, we will be obliged to pass them on to you.
  11. The validity of this brochure is from 01 April 2002.

Tour Price Includes

  1. All transportations as specified in the itinerary with one piece of check-in baggage not exceeding 20 kgs per person. If rail transportation is involved, it will be "soft-seat" or "4-berth soft sleepers"
  2. All sightseeings as specified in the itinerary with English speaking guide. Other Language speaking guides can be arranged for exclusive groups on request.
  3. 3 meals a day where applicable. Breakfast will usually be western or buffet style. Chinese lunch and dinner will be served either at the hotel or at local restaurant.
  4. Room with bath at hotels on a twin-sharing basis.
  5. Transfers between airport/train station and hotels in China including handling of one piece of baggage not exceeding 20 kgs.

Tour Price Excludes

  1. Airport tax, security charge and fuel surcharge where applicable.
  2. Expenses of a personal nature such as laundry, telephone calls, min-bar etc.
  3. Supplement for voluntary or involuntary single room occupancy.
  4. Excess baggage charge.
  5. Travel insurance.
  6. Gratuities.

Cancellations and Refund

  1. For cancellation received 30 days before departure, the deposit will be forfeited but the balance paid will be returned.
  2. For cancellation received between 29 and 16 days before departure, 20% of the tour cost will be charged.
  3. For cancellations received 15-8 days before departure, 50% of the tour cost will be charged.
  4. For cancellations received within 7 days of departure, 80% of the tour cost will be charged

Responsibility

The tour operator and its associated companies and/or agents act only in the capacity of agent for the client. They shall not be responsible or liable for any injury, damage or loss of property or person, or whatsoever expenses arising from the use of any accommodation, conveyances of services, and from sickness, fire, weather, natural calamities, strikes or Government restrictions. Any loss or additional expenses, resulting from the above contingencies shall be borne by the client. The handling of baggage is at the client's risk throughout the tour. Small articles, coats, umbrellas and other hand baggage are left to the responsibility of the client. All fares quoted are subject to change without notice. Should unforeseen circumstances require spending extra time on the tour, the cost of accommodation or any other expenses involved will be charged to the clients. No refund will be made for the unused portion of the tour. The relationship between the tour operator and the client shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong and any disputes arising thereunder shall be exclusively subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
